About Lere
General Information
Lere Local Government Area is located in the southern region of Kaduna State, Nigeria. Its administrative headquarters is Saminaka, which serves as the center for local governance and community activities.
The LGA was established to facilitate local governance and development within the region, with its people known for their agricultural prowess and traditional practices that date back many generations. The origin of the founders of Lere goes deep into the history of the Takrur region of present-day Mauritania and Senegambia, where a kingdom once thrived under the Fulbe or Fulani.
Lere LGA has an area of 2,634 km² and a population of 339,740 at the 2006 census. The LGA is home to a diverse population, with the predominant ethnic groups being the Hausa and Fulani people, alongside other indigenous communities.

Lere is known for producing crops like maize, millet, groundnuts, and beans, with farming being the main occupation of the people. The area has also seen recent training programmes for youth and women in tomato and pepper production.
Livestock Farming
Cattle, Goats & Poultry

Livestock farming plays an important role in the local economy, with cattle, goats, and poultry being reared in the region. Small-scale trading and craftsmanship also contribute to the local economy.
